Chaim and Leah Reisner

Chaim and Leah Reisner

Chaim and Leah Reisner, o.b.m., loving parents of six children, were pioneering members of the Chabad-Lubavitch community in Morristown, NJ. They lived there from 1967-1994, and were very active in establishing the local synagogue and building the community. The Torah study classes they developed and organized for men and women had an enthusiastic following. Far and wide, many people knew of their hospitality and generosity. Over the years, hundreds of students from the local Rabbinical College joined their Sabbath and Jewish holy-day meals.

In 1994 the Reisners moved to the Jewish community in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh. There, they continued their tradition of being very active in the community programs and affecting all those around them in a positive and inviting way. Their house was always open to guests, who were rewarded with the tastiest and most delectable of Chaim’s gourmet kosher cooking.

Leah became the beloved Kindergarten teacher at Yeshiva Schools. She lovingly held that position until shortly before her passing in the fall of 2019. Her warm, caring and nurturing manner inspired and instilled love and caring in many hundreds of children throughout her tenure of over 25 years at Yeshiva Schools.

Hospitality combined with outreach

Chaim welcomed all passersby to stop and chat in his chair restoration shop. Over the years, he touched the lives of countless Jews and Non-Jews. This included inspiring many to begin or deepen their journey towards belief in G-d. All of this continued until his passing in the spring of 2020.

An initiative that was especially close to Chaim's heart was promoting the Seven Noahide Laws. For this, he had Leah's unwavering support, and personal encouragement from the Lubavitcher Rebbe. He devoted many years of his life to this endeavor – most especially through his founding and co-directorship of the Noahide outreach organization Ask Noah International.

Unite To Study is dedicated in memory of Chaim Menachem Mendel and Leah Reisner. May our efforts expand the study of the Noahide Code and unite society in faith in G-d, love, and morality. This will indeed be an everlasting tribute to their legacy.
